PRESENTATIONS - July 24th & 25th
The presentations will focus on but not be limited to Fine arts, Literature, Music, Education, Entrepreneurship, Media, Information technologies, environmental issues and social activism through non-governmental organizations. All presentations will need to have either a local or diasporic content for the Goan community.
EVENING ENTERTAINMENT - Separate ticketed events
“Goan Idol”- Thursday, July 24th evening contest in keeping with the traditional love of music that runs through the veins of all Goans. This is an opportunity for individuals to showcase their talents. Please submit your entries at www.2008goanconvention.com/idol Only a limited number of entries in each category.
Super Hit Tiatro, Friday, July 25th evening ,to be held at the distinguished Living Arts Center in Mississauga a traditional Konkani Concert which promises to be entertaining and will incorporate some use of English and theatrics so that everyone can enjoy the performance.
The Convention Ball - Saturday, July 26th evening
We are working on coordinating a fashion show using designs of up-and-coming Goan Fashion designers with the intention that this will be previewed at the Convention Ball.
WEEKEND EVENTS
Viva Goa (hosted by GOA)- Saturday, July 26th - One of the largest social gatherings of Goans in the Greater Toronto Area. Activities include a soccer tournament, volley ball tournament, several dozen stalls featuring everything Goan from ceramics to spices. Continuous entertainment and delicious traditional meals.
Village Community Picnic - Sunday, July 27th - Sunnybrook Park This event has been cancelled because "Viva Goa", hosted by the GOA, will be held in a Park Setting this year, contrary to the past years. Therefore the committee felt that delegates will already have had a full day of outdoor activity, and would prefer to rest.
